Thanks for the book. It was funny because I was sitting here just the other day thinking about where I could get vintage wallpaper. Then I got home today and found your book in the mail. Of course it will be years before I start to put wallpaper up but I’m sure the book will be a good resource.

The new tenants are moving in as I write. They are a young couple in their mid twenties engaged to be married. They both seem very nice. They are thrilled to have the apartment. I’m thrilled to be getting a rent check.

I just found out that the local JC offers a one-of-a-kind program on old house restoration. (Actually it is soon to be duplicated at a JC in San Francisco). The course offers 15 classes with titles like Historic Interior Surface Materials, Residential Wiring, Carpentry and Millwork, National Register Nomination, and Field Techniques For Historic Preservation. This is only the second or third year for the course. Each year they buy an old home in Eureka and the course instructors and students do restoration work on the house throughout out the school year. I’m going to sign up for Residential Wiring and Field Techniques For Historic Preservation. The class for wiring meets Thursday nights for lecture and then will have lab work in the project house. The Field Techniques class meets on Saturdays and all course work takes place in the project house. Should be fun.
